On Wednesday, December 4, we had our second meeting of those interested in CLC. It was a good opportunity to explain what CLC is and how we might proceed here at St. Anthony’s. One of the features that I stressed was how the local CLC group has the freedom to evolve according to its own gifts and graces bestowed upon it.
The next step will be six weekly meetings in our chapel from 7:30 to 9:00 pm starting on Wednesday, January 8. During the sixth meeting, those who choose to continue will decide how often they want to meet: monthly, twice a month or even weekly.
It is not too late to join us and a number of parishioners have shown interest, even though they have not been able to come to the previous two meetings.
From a group dynamics point of view, it would be ideal to end up with a committed group of about ten people.
At this time, however, I think we should be quite flexible. If twenty people showed up, that would not be a problem.
I have formed these groups in about seven parishes in both English and Spanish and am enthusiastic about the possibilities here at St. Anthony’s.
I will be using Laurence Gooley, SJ’s book To Share in the Life of Christ (Institute of Jesuit Sources) which I found to be a fresh and creative presentation of Ignatian spirituality.
The group process is very rich and one of my particular interests.
